COURSE
The course is a flat and fast point-to-point route from Sunset Park in Coronado
to the Imperial Beach Pier, mainly on Silver Strand Blvd., Hwy. 75. Starting at
Sunset Park, the course heads south on Ocean Blvd. in Coronado. It will
continue to Orange Ave. At Orange, it will turn right and continue south on
Hwy. 75 and the Silver Strand. In Imperial Beach, it will turn right on Rainbow
Dr. into a residential area and into the Naval Radio Facility (NRRF). After
exiting the NRRF, it will turn right on Carnation Ave. At Seacoast Dr., it will
turn left for the final quarter mile to the finish near the Imperial Beach
Pier.
DIRECTIONS
Imperial Beach Pier - Take Interstate 5 south to the Palm Ave. turn-off.
Turn right on Palm Ave. Follow Palm Ave. west to Seacoast Dr. Turn left on
Seacoast Dr. Continue approximately 1/4 mile to the IB Pier.
Sunset Park, Coronado - Take Interstate 5 to the Coronado Bay Bridge.
Head west across the bridge to Orange Ave. Turn left on Orange Ave. Turn right
on 10th St. Go 4 blocks and turn left on G Ave. This will take you to Ocean
Blvd. The start is 4 blocks to the right. No parking at Sunset Park and along
Ocean Blvd. This is for athlete drop off. There is no bus shuttle service back
to Sunset Park after the race.
Silver Strand State Beach - Take Interstate 5 south to Palm Ave. Head
west on Palm Ave. to Silver Strand Blvd. (Hwy. 75). Head north on Hwy. 75 to
the Silver Strand State Beach across from the Coronado Cays. There will be free
shuttle service to the start, and from the finish.
PARKING
Parking is very limited near the finish area at the Imperial Beach Pier. There
will only be residential street parking available. Use the complimentary bus
shuttle service on race morning. Pick-up point is at Silver Strand State
Beach.

SPECIAL CATEGORIES AND DISCOUNTS
There are several special categories for the Half Marathon: Military,
Clydesdale, and Challenged divisions. We are pleased to announce the addition
of a Skate to the Half Marathon (skaters must wear a helmet and knee guards are
recommended). Physically challenged, Military, and Coronado/I.B. residents
receive a $10.00 discount on the existing entry fee at their time of entry.

PRE-RACE EXPO
Join the fun at the Imperial Beach Pier. Get fired up for the half marathon on
Saturday November 15 from Noon - 4 pm. All individuals who did not choose the
bib mail back option must pick up their race numbers at this time. Participants
will also receive the race t-shirt and goodie-bag.
ACCOMODATIONS
The host hotel for the Silver Strand Half Marathon is the Sand Castle Inn,
located in Imperial Beach. The San Castle Inn is located one block from both
the beach and the finish line. Room rates are from $59 to $99 per night. For

BUS SHUTTLES - VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
You have three options to use the FREE bus shuttle.
Option 1 - Drive your car to the Silver Strand State Beach. Parking is
free. Take the free bus shuttle to the start. The buses will begin to leave for
the start at 6:00 a.m. and continue until 6:45 a.m. The bus shuttles will
return to the park following the race. Spectators can ride to the finish for
free after 7:30 a.m.
Option 2 - Have someone drop you off near the start (corner of Ocean
Blvd. & G St.). They can meet you at the finish at the Imperial Beach Pier.
There is mainly street parking near the pier.
Option 3 - Drive your car to the Imperial Beach Pier. There is limited
street parking. Take the free bus shuttle to the start. This service is only
available to the first 200 participants. The buses will leave the IB pier at
5:45 a.m. There will be no service after this time.
POST-RACE PARTY
After the race kick back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the Party At The
Pier. There will be entertainment, refreshments, massage therapy, vendor
booths, and the awards presentations.
AWARDS
Skate awards will be given to the top three in ten year age increments.
Run awards will be given to the top 3 overall finishers, the top three age
category finishers, and the top 3 finishers from the military, Clydesdale,
wheelchair, the City of Coronado, and the City of Imperial Beach for both men
and women. Cash prize for any person setting a new American Half Marathon
Record.* Cash prizes for the top leg amputee finishers.*

THE CHALLENGED ATHLETES FOUNDATION
For ten years the Challenged Athletes Foundation has raised over 3.6 million
dollars and successfully provided grants to over 1,000 athletes with
disabilities so that they can pursue new opportunities through sports. By
providing challenged athletes with handcycles, race chairs, rugby chairs, and
funds for competition and training needs, it is possible for them to reach new
heights and experience the enhanced self esteem and confidence that is the

NATIONAL LEG AMPUTEE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Silver Strand Half Marathon has been designated as the National Leg Amputee
Championships by Disabled Sports USA. Some of the world's fastest amputee
athletes will line up at the starting line alongside able-bodied competitors
from around the world. You will witness phenomenal performances by some
remarkable athletes. This is the only event in the US that will award cash
prizes to the top finishers in this category (minimum prize purse is over
$2,500).
SPECIAL DRAWING
Register to win a $150 gift certificate to Road Runner Sports by visiting the
Open Air MRI Centers booth at the Expo on race day. Winner will be drawn at the
Awards Ceremony.
