Description:
This coastal route is popular for training among
bicyclists and SDSE members on weekend mornings. In most locations the road has
a wide shoulder/bike lane. We have found many bicyclists to enjoy the company
of an inline skater drafting behind them.
Today's coast highway continues through north San
Diego county including the coastal communities of Cardiff, Encinitas, Leucadia,
and Carlsbad before entering Oceanside. The moderately rolling hills and
beautiful scenery are excellent for training.
We recommend that skaters new to this route join
SDSE for one of our morning skates rather than trying to skate the route
themselves. In order to avoid traffic and areas of rough pavement, our route
is a loop course which is too difficult to describe here. Here we provide
directions to our meeting point so that you can join us.
Directions:
From I-5 exit at Palomar Airport Rd. and go east.
Turn left at the first light (Paseo del Norte). Turn left into the first
driveway. We meet in the section of the Holiday Inn parking lot closest to
the gas station on your left.
